Doug Okulewicz - Biography

"Seeking the beauty of truth and the truth of beauty."

Doug is the 2nd son of Bernard and Patricia Okulewicz of Buffalo, New York.  He began drawing as a kid, with a focus on wildlife. "I remember doing special projects in 3rd and 4th grade, drawing animals from my favorite t.v. show, 'Wild Kingdom'," recalls Doug.  He continued drawing and painting in high school, and in 1981 was awarded a college scholarship for painting. Although not majoring in art, Doug began focusing on oil paintings shortly after college.

In the early 90's GOD began a work of His magnificent grace in Doug's life and soul, and has guided his life since in His gracious goodness. "I planned a return to my artist career for many years, in the hope of painting the rest of my days, GOD willing. I believe my artistic abilities are a gift from the Lord, and my hope is to glorify Him by showing forth some of His great and glorious works of creation. Psalm 19:1 says that The heavens declare the glory of GOD; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. My goal is to serve GOD, in seeking to be a blessing to the pinnacle of His creation - humanity."

Doug is a studio oil painter, yet considers field studies to be not only helpful, but essential to his work. In a realistic style, he seeks to portray the effects of light & shadow, as well as depth, as the primary elements of his work. His award winning work is enjoyed in numerous private collections in the USA and Canada.
